Getting an Instrument: Homepage_about

GETTING AN INSTRUMENT

There many ways to gain access to an instrument. Below I have provided contact and address information of some excellent music stores in our area where you may rent or purchase your orchestra instruments. This list is by no means exhaustive, but is to be used as a starting point for your shopping!

Be wary of finding instruments through resources online or in stores that don't primarily sell musical instruments and supplies. If you do, you run the risk of having a low-quality instrument, which will be harder to play and keep in tune. This is not to say that someone must spend a fortune on these instruments; often you can find decent student models at music stores for a fair price! Here are some places you could go to see some options:

  • Dunkley Music (Meridian location)
    3410 N Eagle Rd, Ste 150, Meridian, ID 83646
    (208) 342-5549

  • Dunkley Music (Nampa location)
    513 W. Karcher Rd Nampa, ID 83687
    (208) 461-2605

  • Welch Music
    12516 W. Fairview Ave Boise ID, 83713
    (208) 322-3388

  • Dorsey Music (Nampa location)
    1231 Caldwell Blvd
    (208) 466-5681

  • Dorsey Music (Boise location)
    5015 West State
    (208) 853-4141

  • Telford and Sons Violins
    4910 W Gage St, Boise, ID 83706
    (208) 344-6392

Please note: While colored or electric instruments may look cool and are fine for personal use, they will not be permitted in orchestra. If a colored or electric violin is what the student already has, I will allow them for the beginning years of playing, but please keep an eye out for an instrument that is better suited to orchestral playing if you can! This is especially important for students who intend to continue playing in orchestra at higher levels. Thank you!
